New Roots Art Show
Saturday, May 5
901 Harvard St.
5:00PM – 8:30PM
On May 5, 2012, local artists Virginia Baker, Sharon Bartlett and Kay Kemp will present a unique art show reflecting their love of nature and providing financial support for the reforestation of Heights Boulevard. A portion of the art sales and all donations will benefit the Boulevard Beautification project, an ongoing effort by the Heights Association to restore and maintain the natural beauty and treescape of Heights Boulevard.
The New Roots show, on Saturday, May 5 at 901 Harvard, from 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM, promises to be a vibrant event, showcasing three local artists working in different mediums with a common theme – love of nature, the universe and awakening the heart. Inspired by the work of Jean Shinoda Bolen, author of Like a Tree: How Trees, Women and Tree People Can Save the Planet, the artists have created a body of original work in watercolor, mixed media and painting and contemporary assemblages. The art will be displayed only for the evening but arrangements for additional viewing times can be made by contacting Kay Kemp at 823.618.1416.
Special thanks to Rob Hellyer, Keith Crane, the Kroger Wine Department and Mary and Paul Carr for helping to make this show possible. Join the artists and the community in support of Boulevard Beautification on May 5 for an inspiring Heights’ art event!

"The book is primarily an art book, although you will find my words and poetry peppered throughout. Like the artwork, these words gave themselves to me. The spiritual messages emanating from my work often offer healing and inspiration to me and to others. My duty is to share them in the hope that they touch your soul as they have been born from mine." - Kay Kemp
